Community Employment & Job Coaching

We help the people in our care Find, Get, and Keep Jobs

Mission Road Developmental Center’s Community Employment & Job Coaching Program helps match adults with IDD and employers who are eager to have them on their team.

Justin Bader was honored as our 2023 Symbol of Success. Justin has worked at H-E-B Lincoln Heights for 15 years! Justin is a Customer Service Partner. Customers routinely seek out Justin at the cash registers on each shopping trip. Justin is described as unwaveringly friendly, helpful and responsible. Congratulations, Justin! You deserve it!

We are proud of Justin and all of our program participants, who, like Justin, have been diagnosed with IDD and who want and deserve to be accepted, supported, and welcomed into the community. Including having employment opportunities.

Find

Our job coaches work one-on-one with each person to determine their interests and the type of work that is best for them. Often, employers are contacted to help carve out various tasks that could be done on a part-time basis.

Get

Once a job has been identified, job coaches teach individuals the specific skills they will need to be successful at their job.

Keep

In order to keep a job, MRDC provides ongoing employer support. The Not-So-Secret to our Success? Job Coaches!

  • Job coaches visit the employee and their supervisors frequently
  • Job coaches will step in and provide additional training and support when there are changes:
    • New supervisors
    • New task assignments
    • Conflict resolution
  • We also advocate and celebrate the employee’s success!
    • Help them train for possible promotions
    • Advocate for raises
    • Identify safety and care issues
