Community Homes

Mission Road Developmental Center provides residential care for adults diagnosed with IDD through multiple programs. MRDC owns and manages 12 Home and Community Services (HCS) adult group homes, four Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) adult group homes, and four Deaf/Blind/Multiple Disabilities (DBMD) adult group homes (also called the HandsOn program). Nineteen of our adult community homes are located throughout the city of San Antonio and one of our DBMD residences is located on our main campus in south San Antonio.

Residents of our community homes are assisted by well-trained, 24-hour AWAKE staff. During the week, residents spend their days working, training for jobs, volunteering, or engaging in social/habilitation programs. Evenings are spent acquiring and refining the skills needed to live a more independent and fulfilled life. Weekends are for shopping, completing chores, recreational activities, and spending time with friends.

The Texas Health & Human Services Commission monitor and license the group homes.

For more information on our community homes, contact Elisa Gonzalez, Director of Community Operations, at (210) 924-9265 or info@mrmsat.org.

A long-term care ombudsman helps residents of nursing facilities and assisted living facilities to resolve complaints. The help provided by an ombudsman is confidential and free of charge. To speak with an ombudsman, call the toll-free number, 1-800-252-2412.

If you are interested in one of our services for your loved one, start by contacting AACOG (Alamo Area Council of Governments) to begin the screening and assessment process to determine if your client or loved one qualifies for IDD services. Once this is completed, you can fill out our interest form below and a Mission Road program director will reach out to you to determine which programs might be appropriate and available.
